It is my pleasure to offer you this nice pulpit vase produced by Jan Zeman in Novy Bor in the Northern Bohemian region of the Czech Republic.

His studio is one of the few places in the world that uses a historical glass manufacturing technique, where pure silver or gold is added to the molten glass.

Jan Zeman was born in 1951, successor of a family tradition of several generations of glassmakers and art smiths. He graduated from the Secondary Professional Glass Apprentice School as glassmaker-glassblower, in 1969. In 1972-73 he studied Chemical Technology in Prague He worked as a top craftsmen specialized in hand manufacturing of blown glass with overlays in a big art glass factory in Novy Bor. Additionally he got experienced in glassworks in Poland, Hungary, Italy – Murano, Austria and Germany. He participated in several glass symposiums and cooperated with world known artists and designers as Chihuly, Lipofski etc. Since 1992 he started his own studio His creations can be found exhibited in Milano, Frankfurt, Geneva, New York, Taipei, Casablanca etc.

Jan Zeman's unique and beautiful collection is based on historical glass designs from Medieval through to Art Nouveau. Many of the patterns for this collection were used in the leading glassworks of the Art Nouveau period. His studio produces limited series of iridized silver coloured hand blown Art Nouveau glass. Intricate goblets, free flowing dishes, ornate candleholders and graceful vases have been expertly hand crafted, the surfaces decorated with silver and other precious metals, giving each piece an iridescent sheen.

I was lucky to visit Jan Zeman some time ago in Czechia and selected an exclusive collection of his vases for your eyes. One of the pictures shows the artist signing your vase.
