It is my pleasure to offer you this handpainted polychrome wall plate produced by RAAM Faïence.
About the same time that the famous RAM Plateelbakkerij in Arnhem stopped production in 1945, RAAM Delfter Faïence was founded. The similarity in names was not coïncidental because Raam took over much of the RAM moulds and designs and many of their best employees in 1945. Like RAM, RAAM had a brilliant Blue Delft similar to that of the Porceleyne Fles and Makkum and they made a very high quality handpainted Delftware.
But after thirty years of success the fully handpainted production process appeared to be too expensive and the factory had to close their doors in the early 80-ties.
All RAAM items are fully marked at the underside. This plate shows the mould# 525/2-Sch, "ORIGINAL DELFTS BLUE", the factory mark (a windmill named "eertyds"), "HOLLAND HANDPAINTED" and the painters signature J. Mehnert.
Have a close look at it and judge for yourself the high quality of this handpainting: Second to None !
