It is my pleasure to offer you this vintage tile produced by Tichelaar Makkum.
Much of the most beautiful modern Delftware comes from the Tichelaar factory in Makkum. Tichelaar Makkum uses the same traditional basic ceramic and painting techniques as were used by the Delft potters centuries ago. Ten generations of this family have run the Makkum factory and it is by far the oldest continually operating company in the Netherlands, since recent historical research discovered the sale record of the factory of 1594, proving that this factory is over 400 years old.
Even the name Tichelaar comes from this profession... They originally produced tiles (=tegel in modern Dutch, Tichel in old Dutch). Tichelaar is the one who makes the tichels. And.. they still produce tiles nowadays.
This tile is marked at the back with an incised Tichelaar Makkum factory logo.
