Gero Trauth was born in 1942 in Silesia (Poland). At the age of 14 he already won first prizes in an international painting contests. He studied Arts, Graphics and Design at the Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany.
His creations reach from faience paintings, cloth collections, light programs, cutlery and flower pots up to high-grade steel, ceramic(s) and furniture designs for well-known enterprises. In 1984 he began a successful and extremely productive co-operation with Villeroy & Boch designing art editions, motives for fairy tale collections, designs for service and gift articles and motives for the World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) and the German Cancer Foundation.
"His poetic illustrations are extremely discriminating impressios, which are loved all over the world. The abundance and diversity of its precious representations reach from sensitive interpretations of the world literature with fascinating gilded representations up to dreamlike erotic 1001 nights scenes.
