 It is my pleasure to offer you this Double Gourded 11¾" Polychrome Delft VASE produced by Velsen Pottery The Netherlands.

1920 was a very turbulent year for the Dutch Pottery industry. A kind of revival after the first world war. Many factories were founded in that year. One of them was De Kennemer Pottenbakkerij and in 1936 the name was changed into Velsen. After bankruptcy in 1939 two former P.Z.H.-painters, Johannes G. van Vliet and Leendert H. de Vrind restarted the factory in 1942.

From that time Velsen produced a good quality handpainted Delftware. Its polychrome was its strength and had a pleasing look and the largest palette of colors in the business at that time, including light and dark blue, light and dark green, olive-green, brownish purple, yellow, yellow-orange, and brick-red as well as black, blue or brown trek lines.
Many of these colors are to be seen on this special vase, especially the stone-red, orange and purple elements.

The Velsen mark was handpainted until the mid eighties when they switched to a stylized printed mark. In 1993 the factory burned down and production of handpainted delft was stopped.

AGE: 1960-1970

DIMENSIONS: Height is 11,75inches, widest diameter is 6 inches.

CONDITION: EXCELLENT. This vase is in PERFECT condition. No cracks, chips, flakes or any other flaws.

The white spots on some pictures are the reflection of my photo lights.
