It is my pleasure to offer you this exceptional Delft Bottle produced by De Porceleyne Fles in Delft.

De Porceleyne Fles was founded in 1653 however it got famous when Joost Thooft took over this small factory at Delft in 1876. He produced traditional blue on white Delft ware and tile tableaus but with a new technique and started to use other colors like red and green.
This model was added to the product line reflecting a less formal, more Arts and Crafts style. It was designed in 1888 when "Kruikje Dolfijn met stop" (bottle dolphin with stopper) was added in handwriting to the pricelist of the factory. It remained in the pricelist through 1918. It is so named because of the four little dolphins moulded on top of the body and lid. It was available with a floral or landscape decoration.
Most of the time the stoppers are lost. This bottle still has its stopper however it has been restored (see pictures). The bottle itselft is in excellent shape but a small chip at the bottom rim of which I included a picture too. This bottle is depicted without stopper in Rick Ericksons book on page 85 and classifieds as rarity I.
Fully marked on the bottom with the yearmark AG (=1911), the Royal Delft Logo, The stylized JT of Joost Thooft and the painters intertwined initials VL (= Th.A.B. van Lingen who worked at De Porceleyne Fles from 1893-1945).
